Primary 2/3

Term 2

We began the term by having a 3 week mini Scottish topic looking at Scottish animals. We explored the words for various animals that live around is and focused on hurcheons and brocks. We learned about their habitats and how to protect them. We had lots of fun with our Scottish poem 'The Pizaneous Pet Shop' and even made our own verses creating our own pizaneous animals.

We have moved on to learn about the rainforest. We have learned about the layers and the animals that live in those layers. We will begin to look at the food chains and preserving the rainforest. We have been exploring 'The Great Kapok Tree' and will be looking the effects that deforestation has on animals and humans. Mrs Simpson has been doing lots of rainforest art with us too!

We will then have a 2 week mini topic at the end of term 2 on colour, light and sound.

We will continue to go to the woods every Wednesday afternoon and appreciate any helpers where at all possible. PE with Mr Denholm is Wednesday morning before break.

We are looking forward to another busy and exciting term.
