First Eco Flag - 2004
On Wednesday 8th November 2004 we held our first Eco flag Party in Strathkinness Village hall. Primary 1 – 6 led the festivities. We all danced and did a play on ‘Saving the Planet’. Food was laid out in the colours of the rainbow and everybody was allowed to eat it. Every pupil in the school decorated a bun which spelt out our Eco slogan – Reduce, Reuse & Recycle.
The flag symbolizes the hard Eco work initiatives undertaken by the school including composting, energy saving, recycling and healthy eating.
Two pupils spoke on behalf of the Travel Action Group explaining what they had done since achieving their Travel Action Charter.
Sheila Goodwin (Eco coordinator) & Anne Mudie (member of the community) were presented two bouquets of flowers to thank them for helping us achieve our second Eco Flag.
Second Eco Flag - 2006
Strathkinness Primary School celebrated our second Eco Flag in fine style on 6th October 2006 with a Flag Raising Ceremony and Eco Party. The whole school and local community gathered to witness the unfurling of the coveted Green Eco Flag.
After the flag raising, the party started in the Village Hall. Dancing, tasty goodies and lots of good fun followed. Everyone should be justly proud of a wonderful Eco achievement.
