Parent Council

St Andrew’s RC High School is fortunate to benefit from a very active Parent Council made up of parents, carers and teaching staff. On average we have around 12 members and we meet around four times a year.

Some members have specific roles while others attend meetings and support at fundraising events when they can.

Our current Office Bearers are as follows:

Chair - C Simpson

Secretary - T Davidson

Treasurer - P McCorquodale

The Headteacher, Patrick Callaghan and a number of teaching staff also support The Parent Council and attend our regular meetings.

What we do

The main purpose of the Parent Council is to work in partnership with the staff and pupils of the school to:

  • Represent the views of parents and carers in all areas of school life.
  • Raise funds to buy new resources and support school activities.
  • Improve the school environment and learning experience for all pupils and staff.

At recent meetings we have discussed and helped to influence a variety of decisions made by the school on key issues including: school traffic plan; school uniform; strategic planning; events and fundraising.

Thanks to the ongoing support of our school community, especially parents and carers, we are able to raise funds throughout the year through a variety of events and activities organised by The Parent Council.

In the past these have included:

  • St Andrew’s Day Ceilidh
  • Summer Fun Day
  • Refreshments at parents evenings, carol concerts and similar events

School staff and the Pupil Council can apply to the Parent Council at any time for funding throughout the year.
