Talking Points - Employees Performance Management

The need for a strong and consistent approach to good performance management has never been clearer as we transform our ways of working to meet the aspirations of the organisation.   

 

Improving and managing the performance of our employees are key elements in supporting and enabling the delivery of excellent services. Employees need to be clear on their role and their work-related objectives and be acknowledged for the great work they do. We also want to ensure that employees who are not performing effectively are supported and managed in a fair and consistent way to encourage the necessary improvement in performance.

 

'Talking Points' is our refreshed approach towards Performance Management. It is designed to develop a culture of real-time discussion that focusses on current and future performance and helps us deliver and improve as part of business as usual. It encompasses an approach that is:

  • More informal and frequent
  • More concerned with the quality of the conversation and the delivery of outcomes, rather than the filling in of forms.

 

Great performance helps everyone in the organisation and well-being is essential for that to happen. Formalising the importance of well-being at work helps managers and employees focus on healthier ways of working.

 

Performance management has such enormous potential as a tool to improve wellness at work, therefore it is important to discuss health and wellbeing as part of your regular conversations with employees. It gives employees a voice and makes conversations about stress and work-life balance so much easier.
